Almost everyone listens to music daily, including myself. In 2025, there was a variety of music played. Genres like Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Hyperpop, and Country, which were just some of the top genres this year.
A big music trend in 2025 was genre-blending. Genre-blending is when an artist, or a producer uses two completely different genres of music and mixes them to create a unique sound. The end result does not fit in a genre of music.
You may know the classic Beyoncé song “Crazy in Love.” This song actually features a sample from the iconic 1970 Chi-Lites song “Are you my women”. The soulful 1970 song sampled in the back of Beyoncé’s voice created a massive hit! One of my personal favorite songs that includes a sample is, “Walk Away” by Southsidesilhouette, which has a sample from the classic 1975 hit, “Walk Away from Love” by David Ruffin. Both songs mixed together help to create this beautiful gem!
With that being said, here are some of the top songs of 2025 according to Rolling Stone:
1. Lady Gaga, ‘Abracadabra’
2. MJ Lenderman and This Is Lorelei, ‘Dancing in the Club’
3. KPop Demon Hunters/Huntr/x, ‘Golden’
4. Bad Bunny, ‘Baile Inolvidable’
5. Kehlani, ‘Folded’
6. Sabrina Carpenter, ‘Manchild’
7. YoungBoy Never Broke Again, ‘Shot Callin’
8. Taylor Swift, ‘The Fate of Ophelia’
9. Kendrick Lamar and SZA, ‘Luther’
10. Chappell Roan, ‘The Subway’
These are just some of the many top songs of 2025. What was your favorite song this year? I hope the music that you listened to this past year will be just as good as your 2026!
